The top 5 businesses that show up on the first page of Google, get more than 50% of all the business, and these companies are listed in Google places local business listings, of which there are only 7 businesses that show up on the first page.
Why is S.E.O. and Google Places Vital?
Recently Foresters research (one of the most respected research companies in the world) asked 4000+ successful businesses how they found new customers, and more than 90% of them said that S.E.O. (search engine optimization) was one of their top strategies, only 7% said it was social media.
Does that surprise you? I thought it might, with all the hype floating out there about social media, the fact is that whilst it is a good idea to be involved in Facebook and Twitter, people are not looking to buy your products or services on these sites, they are only on them to socialise.
